I think I'll choose this thread to right on as you took the time to put the whole subject in the title, and used Sir Alf as an icon with the England/Dagenham connection.

Get well soon Jimmy.

Sir Alf obviously had a big influence on the life of Jimmy Greaves. And Geoff Hurst

Football on TV and the days of Saint & Greavsie seem a long long time ago.
Get well Jim
Amazing goalscorer. For everyone but us

How old ?

Re: Jimmy Greaves in intensive care
He was past his best and a proper alcoholic by the time he joined us. He freely admits he wasn't that good here.

Still, even then his goalscoring record was better than Carroll.

Tell you what was sad ... about 10+ years ago down Southend seafront the Sun had their botty bus down there ... 3 page three girls you could meet get your photo with etc... and also there was Greavsie.... the queue for the botty girls was large... the queue for Greavsie... 2 old boys having a chat.... dont feel to proud to say me and my two MATES were in the Botty girls queue... I'm going to hell.... :-(

A jimmy Greaves quote:

" Chelsea fans say I was at my best when I played for them. Tottenham fans say I was at my best when I played for them.
West Ham fans say I was at my best when I played for Chelsea or Spurs."

All the best Jimmy boy.

Re: Jimmy Greaves in intensive care
Yeah my old man never forgave Peters for that swap!!

In his Spurs day he was always seen in a cafe in Barking on match days... normally about 1pm he would be having his usual pre match meal of steak and kidney pie and spuds... old skool pre match meals ROCK
